Especially the first half, it took me really long to get into the book. I wish he had written little less of that. I personally felt that this is not a book for all age groups. It is a refreshing and quick read. Sep 18, Sheetal Sh rated it it was amazing.

The author has smartly sums up this b Two best friends, a string of relationships and everything in between! The author has smartly sums up this blooming love story between them by a nice, breezy poetic note written by Boza Corbi. On the other hand, Tanie and Sumer become best of friends in no time. Sumer gradually falls in love with Tanie. However, recent breakup makes her unsure about everything. The plot has two different stories of two different teenagers — one is Aaryan and Boza and another is Tanie and Sumer. Interestingly, Author has written this story when he himself was in his teens. The author manages to spice up simple story with his witty style backed by humorous one-liners and countless funny incidents.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story written by the author, Sumrit Shahi. I strongly recommend this novel to all those who are adults now and once were a teenager. In fact, I have listed down some page numbers where I want my readers specially go and read them.
Here are those: I had just offered her the bait. It was just 1. Sep 18, Mhonchumi Kikon rated it liked it. Can a girl and a boy be Just Friends is divided into two parts, narrated by two different people, which somehow shares a similar plotline.
Both the stories connect when two people Tania and Aaryan Can a girl and a boy be Both the stories connect when two people Tania and Aaryan meet at the airport and share their parallel love stories with each other. It is just a story which is all about the relationship between a boy and a girl, and how their close bond of being just friends turned into lovers.

Here too, guided by personal inhibitions often a result of societal norms, the two protagonists fail to understand the power of the relationship they shared with their best friends , deciding to choose their love life over them ; only to realise and probably regret the path that they have chosen.
Jan 12, Ajit rated it it was amazing. Jul 07, Jashandeep Chadha rated it really liked it. My first book and I loved it Shahi's writing is so simple and easy to understand for any first-timer. A great gift!! Mar 15, Gautam Dutta rated it it was ok. Though scores of books have been written on this, it is the presentation that makes a difference.
Unfortunately, 'Just Friends' fails horribly on that front. A story about spoiled rich brats may not be bad per-se. But page after page of conversation without moving the actual story forward irritates the reader badly. The only saving grace is the last few pages, which is surprisingly dignified and well-handled.
The extra star in the rating is because of that. Oct 16, Purba Chakraborty rated it liked it Shelves: In this book, the author tenderly dealt with the question that we all might have pondered on, at some point in our lives. Young people, especially teenagers find it hard to distinguish between love and friendship. They often find it confusing to differentiate between platonic love and romantic love.
The author has chosen a befitting title for the book.
There are two stories in the book: It can be understood that the author, Sumrit Shahi had deliberately narrated two stories, in order to present the perspective of a boy and a girl when it comes to the confusion between love and friendship. Both the stories talk about two best friends and their love interests. At some point, the best friends realize that they are perhaps more than friends, but they have a not-so- happy ending. Sep 17, Vrushali Pathak rated it it was amazing Shelves: Sumer and Tanie.
They are seriously the type of friends everyone wishes for from going shopping together to crying together when their heart breaks. Sumer then convinces himself to move on. Still they both stay together and help each other out.
Till now I never thought reading a novel cou Sumer and Tanie. Till now I never thought reading a novel could make me so emotional..
Best parts: They were caring and also fought a lot..! Seriously love them! Not so good parts: Only that sometimes the story takes us to the past and sometimes it is just describing the present which makes it a little confusing, just a little. But don't worry they're so little that they won't ruin your experience.
But rest the book is really good and sometimes emotional too! Keep a tissue with you when you read. Oct 06, Mitali rated it liked it. The story takes time to draw the reader in, but settles down once it jumps into flashback. So impatient readers will need to give it a second chance.
He laughed. He continues using it in his second book. So that is a little annoying at times. The ending was disappointing. Not with respect to the story, but with writing.
It seemed like the writer was in a hurry to finish off his book. Everything happened too su The story takes time to draw the reader in, but settles down once it jumps into flashback.
I had to pause, go back and think about what just happened. But, again, for his age 17 years what he's written, it can give most other Indian writers a run for their money.

If you love reading indian writings, then i suggest you take this up. Comprising of two endearing stories about the complicated friendship between boys and girls, Just Friends is a bit exaggerated and unrealistic, but is thought provoking as you finish it.
The book is different because it does not have an engineering background, a relief! I would categorise this book under casual reads because like I said, it is unrealistic and a bit filmy, clearly showing that the author has watched a bit too many bollywood movies before sitting down at his desk. Jan 21, Shailly rated it did not like it Shelves: It WAS a ok kind of book There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Readers also enjoyed.

Lastly, Tanie already had the book with her. Her love is never reciprocated. Nice one from Sumrit.. It took me around 5 days 3 more than the usual to finish it, and no, not because it was extremely boring and "I am a murderer.
